AARP Informational Series with Washington State COVID-19 Information Center

AARP is proud to announce a new informational series with the Washington State COVID-19 Joint Information Center and TVW. The program “Spread the Facts” will focus on tips and resources for older adults and their families to Stay Home and Stay Healthy.

Each Thursday TVW Host David Johnson will speak with local officials and subject matter experts to provide the latest recommendations about how to better cope with the Coronavirus pandemic. He’ll also take questions from you, the viewers, to address the issues that are on your mind.

Next week’s episode on Thursday, April 16 will feature “Caregiving in the Era of COVID-19.” Guests will include First Lady Trudi Inslee, Amy Goyer, AARP’s Family and Caregiver Expert; and Bea Rector, ALTSA Director of Home and Community Services. Even in ordinary times, the more than 840,000 unpaid family caregivers in Washington State face a daunting set of daily tasks. Oftentimes with little or no training, they may be responsible for wound care, tube feedings, dressing, managing the finances and medical bills of their loved ones, transportation and more. Of course, these are no ordinary times. The coronavirus pandemic has complicated the lives of family caregivers, especially those with older loved ones who are most susceptible to COVID-19. It has added fear, anxiety and isolation to an already-stressful situation. Tune in on Thursday, April 16 at 6:00pm on TVW to hear tips and resources for the challenges facing family caregivers. You can find where TVW airs in your area using their Channel Locator.
