RN Resident Care Manager
Department: Nursing Services
Location: Des Moines, WA

The RN Resident Care Manager is responsible for the direct 24 hour supervision of the licensed staff and resident assistants and all nursing care activities of the assigned unit. Knowledge of State and Federal regulations governing long term care facilities is essential for the maintenance of nursing objectives, standards of nursing practice, nursing policy and the coordination of nursing services with other resident services. The Resident Care Manager is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all state and federally required paperwork. This individual promotes harmonious relationships among nursing personnel, residents, families, and other disciplines, and keeps Nursing Administration apprised of all problems occurring on her/his assigned unit while supporting and enforcing Wesley Homes Health Center’s policies and procedures.

In the absence of the Administrator, Director of Nursing Services or other designated staff person, the Resident Care Manager assumes total responsibility for the facility and other departments.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Education Background

2 year College degree in Nursing.
BS/BA degree in Nursing preferred.

Licensure, Registration, Certification
Current RN License in Washington State.
Up to date CPR Certification.
Special Training/Skills
Knowledge of Washington State nurse practice laws and state/federal regulations governing Long Term Care facilities.
Strong clinical skills with bladder scanner, IV and CPR.
Exceptional assessment skills required.
Ability to speak, communicate, and understand conversation English.
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
Computer skills to include MS Office and Electronic Health Records.
Work Experience
Experience and/or training in geriatric nursing practice.
Demonstrated leadership, public relations, and supervisory skills.
Past experience in designing and implementing a quality care plan.
Physical Demands
Ability to stand/walk 4 – 5 hours per day.
Ability to bend, stoop and squat frequently for resident care and assessment.
Ability to sit for long periods of time assisting residents with meals, charting, phone consulting, and data entry.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs and be able to push/pull med/Rx cart.
INFECTIOUS RISK CATEGORY

HIGH RISK: Likely to have frequent occupational exposure with patient’s blood or other body fluids. May require protective equipment to be worn during some aspects of direct patient care.

SOME (COVID-19) RISK: Possible occupational exposure to residents or clients with COVID-19. May require personal protective equipment (PPE) to be worn during some aspects or seasons of job.
