The Saying It Out Loud (SIOL) Conference focuses on information sharing and networking to improve behavioral health services, and to decrease disparities faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ+) individuals. The conference strives to provide space to educate to better serve and support LGBTQ+ individuals and their families. Dialogue is encouraged across all topics that touch and impact individuals including understanding how difference with regard to gender identity and sexuality impact overall behavioral and physical health, self-determination, and well-being.
Attendees in the past have included specialists in behavioral health (mental health and substance use), as well as professionals that serve LGBTQ+ individuals and their families with non-profit agencies, government organizations, housing authorities, child welfare organizations, elder care providers, education groups, and criminal justice organizations. All are welcome. This year’s conference will mark its 18th year.
