License Expiration Date Extensions

License Expiration Date Extensions

Health professional licenses that expire on September 30, 2020, and are in the renewal process, will be considered by the department as active until October 16, 2020.

Renewal processing delays may occur in October, due to a high volume of renewals being submitted at the end of September. Users of Provider Credential Search are cautioned about using the Last Issue and Expiration dates reflected on our website until processing can be completed

The secretary of health extended health profession license expiration dates for licenses up for renewal between April 1 and September 30, 2020.

This extension allowed health professionals to focus on patient care and to promote continued patient safety during the COVID-19 outbreak. It also provided for a reduction in economic burden for those providers who could not work.

As we reach the end of September, the extension is expiring. That means providers who took advantage of it must renew their licenses no later than Sept. 30 in order for their licenses to remain active and to keep from having to pay late fees.

Providers who delayed renewal, and whose normal expiration date has passed, may:

  • Renew through the online licensing system (credit card, debit card or E-check accepted), or
  • Return the renewal notice with payment by mail (check or money order accepted.)
  • Submit their renewal in our Town Center 2 drop box (Please note: In-person customer service is currently not available, but our drop box is checked daily.)

Providers in some professions can’t renew late online. A list of professions able to renew online after their normal expiration date is on our License Expiration Extension Frequently Asked Questions webpage.

No late fees will be due, as long as we receive your payment online before 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 30; or if it’s postmarked no later than Sept. 30; or if it’s left in our Town Center 2 drop box prior to opening on October 1, 2020.
