LTC Waiver Extension and Updated Safe Start Guidance

LTC Waiver Extension and Updated Safe Start Guidance

The long-term care waivers have been extended through October 1. As a reminder, when the Safe Start for Long Term Care Recommendations were released by the Governor, he created two new proclamations 20-65 and 20-66. All of the previous LTC proclamations are now wrapped up in these two. The only change is the four corners specifically removed 1 RCW from the exemptions in 20-65. It is RCW 43.43.837(1). This is the requirement that an applicant or service provider has a fingerprint check if they have lived in the state for less than 3 years. This RCW will no longer be waived under the proclamation. You can find the full extension letter from the four corners here.

Additionally, the Safe Start for Long Term Care Recommendations has been updated for both assisted living and nursing homes. The only change is to the guidance for phase 1 Medically and Non-Medically Necessary Trips section. The guidance now states that instead of automatic 14-day quarantine, providers should use the DOH risk assessment template. If the resident trip is determined to be medium or high risk, you need to consult with your LHJ on the need for a 14-day quarantine. Below is the updated guidance for both setting types.
