The Long Term Care Coalition Speaks Out on Proposed Cuts to LTC

Following the September 16th release of the DSHS decision package, which contains devastating cuts to long term care services, the LTC Coalition has increased advocacy efforts. The Long-Term Care Coalition, a broad and diverse coalition of long-term care advocates, including LeadingAge Washington, has been monitoring projected budget cuts for the last few months. The LTC coalition, as a unified voice, is opposing all cuts to long term care.

On Wednesday, a letter was sent to all legislators and the Governor’s office detailing the devastating impacts these cuts would have on our state’s seniors who receive long term services and supports. You can find a copy of that letter here. You can also find a press release on the proposed budget cuts here. We expect more press coverage in the next couple of weeks. We will continue to update you on the work of the coalition and, when the time is right, we will ask for your advocacy engagement as well.

In the meantime, we urge you to speak with your legislators about the impact of COVID on your operations and the immediate need for full restoration of the pre-July COVID rate add-on.
