King County Testing Recommendations

King County Testing Recommendations

There has been a lot of recent confusion regarding skilled nursing facilities and staff the frequency of surveillance COVID testing in King County. LeadingAge WA reached out to Seattle King County Public Health and asked if they plan to require weekly testing in all nursing homes, or if this is a recommendation only.  We have heard back from Dr. James Lewis that at this time they are only recommending weekly testing, it is not a requirement. As of this week, the CMS requirement for testing in King County is monthly.  Unless there is a change of plans from SKCPH, or an increase in cases that changes the positivity rate in the county, you should be testing per the CMS requirement of monthly.

If you have symptomatic staff or residents, you need to test immediately, and if you have any positive residents or staff, you will be required to follow recommendations from public health.
