November 6 Deadline for Vaccine Partnership

November 6 Deadline for Vaccine Partnership

All providers of aging services in all settings should sign up. The CDC has set a November 6 deadline for aging services providers to sign up for its Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care Program. The Friday November 6th deadline is fixed.  Nursing homes should apply through NHSN and all others through REDCap

Nursing homes that wish to use their own LTC pharmacy or a local pharmacy should also fill out the NHSN as a backup.  CDC will begin matching eligible applicants (right now nursing homes, assisted living, CCRCs/life plan communities, and HUD 202 senior housing providers) to CVS/Walgreen’s starting this weekend.

All other provider types and settings should also fill out the REDCap form so they are on record and can be identified.  It’s important to note that the initial federal partnership aims to target older people who live in congregate residential settings.  It is also important to note that vaccine plans are in flux.  One certainty is that as more vaccine doses become available, more people in more settings will receive them.  It is quite likely that partnerships with state/local pharmacies will be established by governors.

The CDC is working with stakeholders, including LeadingAge, to determine how the COVID-19 vaccine, once it’s available, will be distributed to long term care providers. The CDC is also working with Governors’ offices to ensure state priorities for vaccine distribution are incorporated into distribution phases.
