CDC NHSN Reporting – COVID-19

On May 8, 2020, CMS will require skilled nursing facilities to report COVID-19 data, at least weekly, to the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN), the most widely used healthcare associated infection tracking system. Failure to report data to the NHSN database could result in an enforcement action. This reporting is only for skilled nursing facilities!  Even though CDC keeps referring to assisted living providers reporting, the regulation is for skilled nursing only.  The LTCF COVID-19 Module training and registration can be found on the CDC website.  For detailed enrollment instructions, access the CDC Long-Term Care Facility (LTCF) Enrollment in LTCF COVID-19 Module instructions.

CDC will be holding four live Q&A sessions: Office Hours for specific questions related to LTCFs COVID-19 Live Q & A Session for Module and Enrollment:

    • Thursday, May 7 at 11:00 am PT (2 pm ET
    • Tuesday, May 12 at 10:00 am PT (1 pm ET)
    • Thursday, May 14 at 11:00 am PT (2 pm ET)
