LeadingAge Washington Asks For Special Consideration for LTC as the Health Care System Begins to Resume “Normal” Operations

LeadingAge Washington, Washington Health Care Association and Adult Family Home Council sent a letter to the Governor’s office asking to be separated from the developing plan to reopen a variety of health care system partners, including dental offices, hospitals, therapists, clinics and more.  While many hospitals and primary care providers are anxious to resume non-emergent procedures and visits and elective surgeries, the LTC associations believe current waivers need to remain in place given the high risk population we serve and the uncertainties that reopening Washington state brings.  The plan to resume operations must rely on data and science as we learn about COVID activity following implementation of the last phase of our state’s businesses and operations.  This data will guide us as to whether it is safe to open our doors to visitors, social dining, and activities where residents and staff gather. We must also make a local and internal assessment of readiness again looking at any new COVID activity and PPE and testing adequacy.  You can find the full letter here .
