House Proposes HEROES Act, Delays MFAR, Increases FMAP

The HEROES act, proposed on Tuesday, May 12th includes a provision that would delay any finalization of the Medicaid Fiscal Accountability Regulation (MFAR) until after the public health emergency has ended.  This regulation could put billions of Medicaid dollars at risk, including Washington’s Safety Net Assessment (SNA).

In addition, the HEROES Act proposes an increase to the Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP) payments to state Medicaid programs by a total of 14% starting July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021.  Presumably this includes the 6.2% increase that we have already seen and extends it through June 30 of next year.

Please take a minute to read through the Contact Congress Today for Aging Services Relief article in this News Bulletin.  The House plans to vote on this act this coming Friday, May 15th.  It is always extremely helpful for facilities and residents to contact our legislators to express their support for these acts.
