Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently announced that they will require nursing homes to report COVID-19 related data through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). NHSN is the nation’s most widely used healthcare-associated infection tracking system and is widely used hospitals. To report into NHSN each nursing home will need to enroll in NHSN. Instructions for long-term care facility NHSN enrollment can be found here. If a nursing home has previously enrolled in NHSN to report C.diff or other infections, they do not need to enroll again. Washington Department of Health (DOH) will host a webinar next week to help nursing homes enroll in NHSN and introduce them to NHSN reporting.  Please register below!
