COVID-19 Testing Update

COVID-19 Testing Update

While the final results are being compiled and published by Department of Health, the preliminary result of the point prevalence testing in skilled nursing facilities and assisted living with memory care units has been released. To date, 18,600 test samples have been submitted. Out of those, 144, or 0.8% were positive for COVID, another 0.2% were inconclusive. An ongoing testing strategy for these settings is being worked on but has not been finalized.

As for the remainder of assisted living facilities that have not been tested, a plan is being worked on and will be finalized soon. What we know as of now is assisted living facility will be conducting point prevalence for staff and residents by the end of August. As with the last round of testing, the test kits and PPE will be provided to you, and all costs will be covered by the state. The Department and DSHS will conduct another webinar with instructions on how to obtain samples, package, and ship. The state is also working on obtaining a standing testing order for residents and staff. We have asked that testing not start until this is in place.

You will receive more direction from the state as the plan is finalized. You are not expected to start any testing or obtaining orders at this time.
