Coronavirus – PPE Use and Infection Control Practices

The CDC and WA State Dept. of Health continues to closely monitor an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by a novel (new) coronavirus that was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China and which continues to expand. On February 11, 2020, the World Health Organization named the disease coronavirus disease 2019 (abbreviated “COVID-19”).  While the risk remains low for those in the United States, the CDC is urging providers to continue with infection prevention and environmental cleaning procedures already in place for influenza.

The CDC has information on Infection Control Procedures for healthcare providers and outpatient clinics as well as information on PPE Supply and Usage.

You can also visit Washington State Dept of Health’s website, which gives information on Local Health Jurisdiction and Healthcare Provider Resources as well as coronavirus fact sheet
