2021 Minimum Wage Increase
January 1, 2021 the minimum wage in Washington state will be increasing from $13.50 to $13.69. Since 2017 Labor & Industries has increased the minimum wage as a result of Initiative 1433. As of January 1, 2021 Labor & Industries is required to make a cost-of-living adjustment to the minimum wage federal Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W). Some local jurisdictions have higher minimum wage rates and different labor rules than Washington state. The higher minimum wage requirements apply in these localities:
- Seattle: $15.75/hr.
- In 2021, this increases to $16.69.
- SeaTac: $16.34/hr.
- In 2021, this increases to $16.57.
