Prior to the Workshop
Community-Informed Engagement
The City is leading focus groups with community members to better understand and prepare for their needs during extreme heat events, including barriers to accessing cooling spaces and strategies/needs for staying cool in their homes. Focus group findings will be shared prior to the workshop.
At the Workshop
Objectives
During this workshop participants will:
- Learn about community-identified needs and existing capabilities for extreme heat response,
- Identify immediate actions to reduce vulnerabilities to extreme heat this coming summer,
- Lay groundwork for longer-term extreme heat mitigation efforts, and
- Forge relationships across public and private organizations to support extreme heat response and mitigation efforts.
Workshop Outcomes
Develop strategies, action items, and partnerships for heat response and mitigation. This workshop will focus on ensuring we are able to improve response this summer, with an intention to dovetail with other regional and City efforts for longer-term mitigation efforts.
