Interim Guidance for SARS-CoV-2 Source Control in Healthcare Settings

Washington State Dept of Health has updated Interim Guidance for SARS-CoV-2 Source Control in Healthcare Settings. Please note!  The updated CDC guidance from last week on mask use for fully vaccinated persons DOES NOT apply to healthcare settings.

Source control refers to use of well-fitting facemasks, respirators, or cloth face coverings to cover a person’s mouth and nose to prevent spread of potentially infectious respiratory secretions when they are breathing, talking, sneezing, or coughing.  All visitors are required to wear source control when in hallways, on their way to/from resident rooms.  They should not be stopping to visit with other residents or staff in the hallway. A Dear Provider Letter explaining this will be issued that you can share with residents and family members if needed.
