You were loved and cared for at birth.  Seems natural to do the same at the other end. This course will provide you with a roadmap to navigate the process of End-of-Life from diagnosis through death and beyond.  Helping our residents and their families plan for their time where they labor through death can be a gift.  We will spotlight preparation for death, actual death and post-death preparations.  The Goal:  A comfortable body, a peaceful passage, and a triumphant soul

Objectives:

  1. Explore the similarities between the birthing process and the dying experience.
  2. Identify common death trajectories
  3. Define and compare Palliative & Hospice Care
  4. Discuss Pain & Symptom Management
  5. Recognize importance of cultural and spiritual needs
  6. State 2 strategies to support staff after death of a resident
  7.
