Washington State Nursing Home Occupancy

Washington State Nursing Home Occupancy

DSHS has finished processing the 2019 Nursing Home cost reports.  They have tabulated the nursing home occupancy for 2019.  You can see the occupancy for the past four years in the chart below.

The total state wide occupancy is slightly lower than 2018.  The total state wide occupancy in 2018 was 78.01% and is on a downward trend.  While total occupancy and Medicare occupancy are trending lower, Medicaid occupancy seems to be holding steady.  Due to COVID-19 the total occupancy state wide for 2020 seems to have dropped as limitations on admissions were put in place.  We won’t have final numbers on this until later in the year, but we have received reports from facilities stating that their occupancy has been significantly lower due to COVID-19.
