Extension of Governor Inslee’s Emergency Proclamation Expected

Extension of Governor Inslee’s Emergency Proclamation Expected

Over the last month, the Governor has waived many regulations for the long term care industry. Most of those waivers are set to expire at midnight tomorrow, April 9th. We are still waiting on the official extension of these orders, although we have no reason to believe they will not be extended. According to the RCWs that provide the state of emergency powers to the Governor, he may not lawfully extend these waivers beyond 30 days. The House and Senate leadership (majority and minority leaders) must issue a resolution allowing the Governor to further extend any waivers or suspensions beyond the initial 30 day limited period. We have been in contact with the Governor’s office and anticipate official action will be taken no later than tomorrow, fully extending the waivers without interruption.  We will update you once the official orders are released.
