Worker/management safety committee meetings need to be held at least once per month. The committee should be encouraged to review your community for safety issues and report those hazards to the committee. Accidents and near misses should be reviewed, and recommendations made to correct the hazards that caused those incidents. Remember that the committee will need an elected chairperson and that the committee must consist of employee-elected and employer-selected members. There must be more employee-elected members than employer-selected members on the committee. Minutes should be taken and maintained for a year. See WAC 296-800-13020 for further guidance.
