This course will provide you with a roadmap to navigate the process of End-of-Life from diagnosis through death and beyond.  Helping our residents and their families plan for their time where they labor through death can be a gift.  We will spotlight preparation for death, actual death and post-death preparations.  The Goal:  A comfortable body, a peaceful passage, and a triumphant soul. 

 

 

Objectives:

  • Identify the similarities between birth and death
  • State the differences between the common death trajectories
  • Define trauma-informed care as it relates to the end of life
  • Explain the differences between palliative and hospice care
  • Describe one end of life tradition or cultural/spiritual practice
  • Understand the importance of pain management at the end of life
  • Educate others about the natural progression with food and water at end of life
  • List 3 things that can be done to support grief and loss in the workplace
