“5 Senses Of The Season,” A Holiday Sensory Activities Class For Senior Living Communities

Eldergrow and The Culinary Coach are teaming together to present a free, holiday-themed online workshop with fun, easy sensory activities to spark resident joy. The workshop is on December 1 at 11 a.m.

“Covid-19 makes the holidays more challenging this year, especially for families with loved ones living in senior living communities,” said Dr. Kelly Tremblay, PhD. “We hope to bring some cheer and fun with our sensory activities, and show you how to celebrate your health and the holidays with this free workshop.”

The team will share tangible ways you can harness all five senses (plus a bonus one), featuring practical neuroscience tips from Dr. Kelly Tremblay, PhD. The Culinary Coach, along with Dr. Tremblay, will use their expertise in culinary and audiology to present sensory activities involving sight, hearing and taste.

Using their extensive knowledge on the therapeutic properties of plants and nature, Eldergrow will present engaging sensory activities to support resident wellness during this unusual holiday season. “We know how powerful the senses are, so we are excited to demonstrate these engaging activities that will help to ignite the residents’ senses – and the staffs’ too! We will showcase a few activities, including  a resident favorite – Herbal Sensory Playdough,” said Orla Concannon, Eldergrow CEO.

Several participants will win one of the fun giveaways: a handmade mug (created by Culinary Coach, Executive Chef Shawn Boling), mullings spices and a small bottle of bourbon, a Windowsill Garden from Eldergrow, that comes with three organic, ready-to-plant herbs, a stylish pot & tray set, and three craft activities.
