JOB SUMMARY

The VP of Human Resources is an experienced HR professional and strategic leader who serves as a key member of Wesley Homes’ senior leadership team and in collaboration with other senior leaders is responsible for providing ethical stewardship of all Human Resources for the organization under the direction of the President/CEO.
The VP of Human Resources is responsible for developing and implementing systems, strategies, plans, budgets, and operational activities designed to meet corporate business goals and to reflect the organization’s mission, vision, and values. The role includes managing employee relations, talent management, performance management, leadership development, benefits, compensation and HR Systems.
The VP of Human Resources manages the Corporate HR department and staff and guides field HR leaders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Designs, develops and implements HR Strategy and initiatives to meet corporate business goals
2. Serves as mentor for senior leadership team, directors and human resources staff on employee relations, policy, leadership, performance management and HR compliance. Partners with counsel to defend organization on employment matters.
3. Drives talent management initiatives and systems to attract, recruit, develop and retain qualified employees. Ensures regulatory compliance with respect to DSHS and DOH requirements.
4. Designs, develops, aligns and implements leadership and staff development programs to support organizational goals.
5. Ensures Employee Benefits plans are well designed and affordable to attract and retain talent. Oversees Health & Welfare and Retirement benefits plan administration and regulatory compliance including 5500’s, SARs and ACA filings. Oversees administration of workers compensation claims and ensures claims are properly administered to ensure compliance and minimize liability for Wesley.
6. Stays abreast of regulatory changes. Keeps Wesley’s benefits in compliance with ACA mandates and with state or Federal level benefits changes.
7. Manages compensation pricing and equity across the organization to attract and retain qualified staff.
8. Ensures HRIS Systems efficiently meet the needs of a growing organization. Leads Project Management for new system implementation.
9. Prepares and manages HR Budget.
10. Stays abreast of employment laws and trends impacting Wesley. Designs, develops and implements policies to ensure compliance. Educates senior leadership and HR in understanding regulatory changes.
11. Handles special projects in the development of Human Resources and performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

• Education Background
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent field required. Master’s degree desired.

• Licensure, Registration, Certification
SPHR and/or SHRM SCP

• Special Training/Skills
WA State and Federal Employment Law

• Work Experience
8 years Sr. Level HR leadership role with multi-site experience in non-profit long-term care.
Demonstrated ability to lead and coach Sr. Team members on employment matters
Demonstrated ability to work with counsel and DOL investigators to defend organization
Medical, Dental and 403(b) administration experience.
Knowledge of ACA and the regulatory requirements and changes.
Superior written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Professional, organized, detail-oriented and resident/customer service oriented.
Ability to appropriately handle confidential information and maintain confidences.
Ability to support the organization’s mission, vision and values.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
A. Position requires repetitive motion such as working on computer terminal.
B. Minimal lifting involving filing, distributing mail and working with standard office equipment and supply.
C. Standard working environment involves the administrative office area.
D. Work in well lit, comfortable surroundings.
E. Be able to stand, sit, bend, and lift as necessitated by the job responsibilities.
F. Some local travel may be required.
