JOB OVERVIEW: The incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing and directing quality assurance programs and related activities. Ensures facility is in compliance with WISHA/OSHA, federal and state nursing regulations. Provides oversight of the Nursing Department in the absence of the DNS. Additional duties include staff development and facility infection control. Job performance is evaluated through direct observation, consultation and written documents.

1. Plans, organizes, directs and implements the quality assurance programs to ensure federal and state compliance.

2. Assists in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished.

3. Supports and assists the DNS. Oversees nursing operations in the absence of DNS.

4. Performs investigations as needed.

5. Tracks pharmacy operator discrepancy reports and distributes monthly pharmacy reports to RCMs for follow-up.

6. Coordinates all visiting student programs (Shoreline, South Seattle C.C., N.I.T).

7. Ensures laboratory support is available, including microbiological and serological services.

8. Assists government officials with inspections of the facility.

9. Responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and providing training for fire prevention and disaster planning in partnership with Environmental Services

Infection Control

Plans, develops, organizes and implements facility infection control program.

Training

Plans, develops, directs, evaluates and coordinates educational and on-the-job training programs.

PREREQUISITES:

· Demonstrated ability to interact with and/or lead an interdisciplinary team.

· Excellent nursing clinical skills.

· Knowledge of the skilled nursing process.

· Superior problem solving skills.

· Knowledgeable of quality control improvement systems.

· Knowledgeable in all aspects/criteria of infection controls relating to residents and staff.

· Knowledgeable in Dementia Care and applications

· Superior verbal and written communications skills.

· Ability to write creatively, concisely and accurately.

· Skilled in interpersonal relationships.

· Requires attention to detail.
