JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant is in integral member of Wesley Homes finance department. The successful candidate must possess the entrepreneurial drive and spirit to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.  Individual must possess a solid working knowledge of general accounting practices and general ledger maintenance. This role will perform a multitude of accounting, finance and administrative duties in a variety of areas. This position is responsible for preparing balance sheet and income statement reconciliations with subsidiary systems and ledgers and preparing annual informational tax returns. In addition, provides oversight for resident contracts and is the subject matter expert for several software programs supporting functions within operational areas. Works under supervision of the Controller and will maintain financial reports, records and general ledgers as well as help in preparing and analyzing budgets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Completes bank reconciliation on timely manner.
Prepare and maintain fixed assets and CIP schedules.
Responsible for analysis and reconciliation of specific general ledger accounts.
Prepare and maintain Investment spreadsheet and reconcile it with monthly statements.
Responsible for daily cash balancing and monthly bank reconciliation.
Prepare Wesley and subsidiary informational tax returns.
Manage annual real and personal property tax exemption requests.
Support and assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual bond covenant requirement.
Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance Wesley’s value.
Help Controller in getting ready for the annual financial and 403 (b) audit.
Help Controller in preparing consolidated internal and external financial statements.
Respond to Controller as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs.
Support and assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Provide ad-hoc analysis to the team when requested.
Prepare general ledger entries with minimum supervision.
Support and assist with the yearly budget.
Analyze information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verify information.
Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures;
recommend changes.
Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Education Background
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

Licensure, Registration, Certification
Preferred candidate will have CPA certification.

Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
General ledger reconciliations experience
Demonstrate knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax
and banking.
Demonstrate proficiency in accounting and finance applications.
Intermediate experience using Excel and Word required.
Working understanding of GAAP
Preferred experience with Great Plains and Point Click Clear
Intermediary level experience in Microsoft Excel
Work Experience

Minimum of three to five years of accounting experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
Manual dexterity to include light lifting, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and reaching.
