Seeking Life Enrichment Assistant. Do you like variety?If you have a passion for helping the elderly, enjoy helping others, and genuinely want to make a difference in the lives of people, we want to hear from you! The Life Enrichment Assistant’s role is to facilitate scheduled calendar activities on a timely basis, including both the set up and clean up. Other duties include decorating for holidays and parties, escorting on trips, and producing flyers and other written communication. You will work closely with care staff and other departments to ensure smooth transitions between all daily activities.

Essential characteristics aretimeliness, a sense of urgency in completing tasks, ability to take direction and work independently, a sense of humor, and a personal flair. This job is a fun one—you have an opportunity to share a personal hobby such as crafts, art, music, singing, gardening, cooking, current events and more. Prior experience with dementia and the elderly is very helpful, as you will be leading residents through their days. Computer experience is necessary. Scheduleis full time. One weekend day will be required and flexibility for some evenings and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

Interact with and help to improve the lives of residents on a daily basis through comprehensive wellness programs and activities.
Teaches and leads various exercise/fitness classes at all cognitive and physical levels, as directed by the Director of Life Enrichment.
Assist in developing appropriate programs for residents participation.
Visit residents on a one-to-one basis for the purpose of providing the following interaction with residents: A friendly visitor; Sensory stimulation; Individual instruction on specific leisure pursuits; Meet individual needs as outlined in each resident’s Activity Care Plan.
Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

The ideal candidate will have experience creating and implementing activities, crafts and recreation for senior adults
Ability to teach and conduct art, crafts or other relevant classes
Experience in the long-term care or health care industry desirable
Professionally and proficiently communicate orally and/or in writing with residents, co-workers, families and the public
Hold current CPR and First Aid certifications
