Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Helps oversee, coordinate, provide and evaluate resident care services.
2. Assesses signs and symptoms of physical and psychosocial changes and takes appropriate action, reports and documents.
3. Administers, monitors, and documents medications according to physician orders and written policies and procedures.
4. Directly provides the correct implementations and documentation of therapeutic treatments and diagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician,
5. Does weekly skin assessments of Skin at Risk residents and documents finding in resident record.
6. Is knowledgeable of, helps formulate, carry out, evaluate and revise the written plan of care and rehabilitative goals on assigned residents.
7. Knows Nursing Process and enters new problems into resident’s record and care plan.
8. Follows up with the new physician orders. Orders medications from pharmacy, and enters new order on M.A.R. appropriately.
9. Performs limited wound care as directed by the primary care provider.
10. Performs according to the Standards of Practice related to medication administrating, including routine, PRN. Does monthly review of weights and notifies physician of loss of five pounds or more. Initiates the appropriate weight loss care plan.
11. Performs according to Standards of Practice related to infection control and has a working knowledge of blood borne pathogens and utilizes universal precautions in handling or being exposed to body fluids.
12. Actively promotes, follows the principles of, and oversees employee and resident safety and preventative measures, such as body mechanics and alignment, fire drills and equipment maintenance and safety, etc.
13. Provides emergency care as needed.
14. Helps keep the medical record current and reflective of the resident’s condition and nursing services given.
15. Helps the resident and the family contribute to, understand and participate in the plan of care. Encourages the maximal level of resident independence.
16. Oversees, coordinates, delegates to and helps teach assigned staff.
17. Directly supervises caregiving staff.
18. Helps supervise and carry out nursing duties to ensure the correct completion and documentation of nursing procedures, shift routines, and resident care.
19. Helps oversee the carrying out of the facilities policies and procedures, job duties, resident care plans and physician’s and nursing orders. Helps interpret, explain and teach these to others.
20. Assists in the orientation of new employees.
21. Is knowledgeable of, uses and refers to available reference materials.
22. Helps maintain an effective communication system by documenting on daily shift report.
23. Helps transcribe orders, review and update medication profiles and requisition needed services or supplies.
24. Helps handle phone communications and inquiries.
25. Attends appropriate meetings and reads written communications.
26. Helps keep staff and other shifts knowledgeable of the residents and facility concerns.
27. Promotes the philosophy and objectives of the department of nursing and Warm Beach Senior Community.
28. Assures the confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information and assures that resident rights are protected.
29. Performs other duties as delegated by the Administrator.
