Director of Nursing Services

Director of Nursing Services

March 24, 2021

Rose Villa, an independent, non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community is seeking a Director of Nursing Services (DNS). The Nursing Services at Rose Villa include Madrona Grove Supportive Living, which is an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) serving 35 to 40 residents; a clinic offering physician services and nursing care to residents who reside in Rose Villa’s independent living community; and Avencia Home Care, our in-home care program.

Autonomy. Choice. Individuality. Purpose. Community. These five qualities contribute to the philosophy of care that makes our Nursing Facility unique. Our Director of Nursing Services must embody these qualities and lead the way for staff to serve our population of elders with dignity and respect. If these qualities speak to you and you want know more, read on!

• First, let’s talk about the “F” word. The only time we use the word “facility” is when we are talking technical terms, mainly with people from regulatory agencies. We are first and foremost a community and Madrona Grove Supportive Living is a neighborhood within the community. The people who live here are residents, not patients.
• Next, let’s talk “Memory Care.” We don’t use this term either. We do not segregate residents by diagnosis. People who need a 24/7 supportive living environment move to Madrona Grove from independent living when the time is right. Our Madrona Grove neighborhood is secure and INTEGRATED so that people who have lived together as friends and neighbors for many years, continue to do so.
• This is an EXCITING time in Rose Villa’s evolution, and the DNS will have the opportunity to design programming for a brand new, household model Nursing Facility / Residential Care Facility (see, we just had to get technical) that will open in the spring of 2022! We are looking for a DNS who can bring their expertise and insights to impart on this process and who will be excited about the challenges of navigating through the transition to a new model of care within our community.
• The DNS must be a strong leader with excellent nursing and communication skills and a working knowledge of state and federal regulations for Nursing Facilities. Rose Villa has a focus on empowering those closest to the residents, the CNAs, to make decisions regarding care and to problem-solve when issues arise. The DNS is responsible for fostering this environment and must share this value.
• The DNS must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and must have experience working with an elder population. Management experience is required as is proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
