GENERAL SUMMARY: This position serves as Director of Nursing for Assisted Living within the CCRC. Position has 24-hour accountability for management of clinical services, including assessment of prospective residents, discharge planning, oversight and coordination of Nurse Delegation program and supervision of all clinical staff. Collaborates with Sr. Living health care leadership team in order to assure appropriate placement within the CCRC; works cooperatively with administration, staff, physicians, community agencies, residents, families and consultants. Monitors expenses to budget and monitors daily staffing levels. Works flexible hours and shifts to meet 24-hour accountability and responsibility with clinical staff.

Job Duties:
1. Develops financial and clinical strategies in response to the changing health care environment and needs of resident population.
2. Provide leadership and oversight to all aspects of clinical services for Residents in Assisted Living; including supervision of the direct care staff both nurses and caregivers.
3. Oversee and coordinate participation in Nurse Delegation program in accordance with state and federal standards. Provide information and training to clinical staff as required.
4. Participate in hiring, performance reviews, disciplinary action and termination of assigned staff.
5. Monitor and provide leadership in understanding and compliance with current regulations and healthcare policy. Assist in representing the facility in dealing with federal, state and local agencies.
6. Provide leadership and direction to nurses in oversight of policy/procedure development, medication distribution / QA / storage / disposal system / MARs / physician orders and care plans. Provides input and makes decisions regarding level of care charges.
7. Accurately assess incoming residents to determine appropriate level of care and additional need for enriched care services, participation in care conferences as appropriate, and communicate services and costs with residents and families and the billing department. Provides input and decisions.
8. Assist with resident problems and follow up accordingly. Listen to resident, family or physician concerns and initiate corrective action and / or report to Executive Director.
9. Establish and maintain positive relationships with other departments and ministries within CRISTA. Additionally, maintains positive relationships with residents, families, physicians, consultants, and vendors.
10. In the absence of the Executive Director, serves in the capacity of Executive Director, reporting directly to the VP of Senior Community.

This position is responsible for supervision of all clinical staff.


1. Christian Commitment: Must have a strong personal faith in Christ.

2. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

3. Experience: Strong management experience, including supervision of clinical staff, policy & procedure development and budget management. Recent long-term care experience in a SNF or assisted living setting. Knowledge in DSHS regulations as they relate to long term care and assisted living. Experienced in the care of geriatric residents as evidenced by completed courses and clinical practice, or Nurse Manager with current geriatric clinical skills.

4. Licensure/Certification: Registered Nurse – Licensed in Washington State
Current CPR, HIV Training Certificate

5. Other Considerations: Healthcare provider required to comply with the federal law (HIPAA) that addresses privacy and security of protected health information. HIPAA training required. This job has access to resident health information. Flexible work hours; some evening or weekend hours may be necessary to meet residents’ needs.
