We have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Director to lead all aspects of Human Resources for Spokane’s leading senior living provider. You will be joining an organization that serves over 600 residents and employs more than 400 full and part time team members at our two Life Plan Communities located in Spokane, Washington.

Rockwood is looking for a highly motivated HR Professional that is a self-starter, has exceptional interpersonal skills, and who wants to enrich the lives of our residents and our dedicated staff. This position reports directly to the CEO.

These are the principal duties for this position:
• Develop strategies and processes to achieve and maintain high levels of employee engagement and embodiment of established Behaviors of Excellence.
• Provide leadership, direction and expertise for the full scope of HR functions including, but not limited to, legal and regulatory compliance, team member relations, staffing, performance management, health & safety, training & development, compensation & benefits, Affirmative Action, and records management.
• Coach Managers at all levels in the company (including Executive Leadership) in the practice of effectively managing and motivating employees and teams.
• Develop, implement, and enforce HR policies, procedures and programs that guide management, employee actions and support the organization’s values.
• Ensure compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting Human Resources functions (e.g., OSHA, EEO, ERISA, Wage & Hour, Affirmative Action Plan administration, etc.). Direct the preparation of information requested or required for compliance. Act as primary contact with labor counsel and outside government agencies.
• Develop and implement successful team member recruitment and retention strategies.
• Develop and manage compensation and benefit programs to promote team member engagement, to reward performance and utilize organization resources effectively.
• Oversee corporate risk management and corporate compliance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
• Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment laws and regulations.
• Ability to calmly and effectively respond to and/or manage difficult and emotionally charged situations or conversations.
• Ability to exercise the highest levels of confidentiality, problem solving, coaching and mentoring skills.
• Ability to think creatively, to innovate, and to utilize technology and social media to recruit new team members and to meet the HR needs of the organization.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse workforce.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to convey information passionately, clearly and accurately.
• Exceptional organizational and project management skills.

• At least five years of experience in a senior human resources management role. Preference given to healthcare and/or hospitality services industry experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• SPRH, SHRM-SCP, CCP, or other relevant credentials.
