The Director of Assisted Living is responsible for managing the community’s Assisted Living program, aligning resident needs, legal regulations, and Horizon House policies and procedures to provide an exceptional level of care to residents. This position is responsible for inspiring and facilitating a culture of care and hospitality where staff is committed to organizational goals and motivated to contribute in a meaningful way that enhances the lives of residents, family members, guests and co-workers.

What You’ll Do

Essential Job Duties
• Oversees the healthcare management of all residents in accordance with company policies, federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Establishes metrics and conducts data analysis to measure performance and resident satisfaction; develops and implements strategies and programs to enhance and maintain quality of care and life for residents.
• Maintains high degree of resident satisfaction and retention through consistent delivery of high-quality services.
• Responsible for all assisted living operations, acting as contact for all staff, residents, prospects, community organizations, government agencies and the public.
• Facilitates collaborative communication efforts with stakeholders including but not limited to residents, families, staff, providers, and services to optimize resident care and wellbeing; facilitates the transition of residents through the continuum of care.
• Responsible for compliance with state/federal/local regulations and participate in the survey inspection process to maintain our license with the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS).
• In collaboration with Director of Resident Care, assists with completion of Pre-Admission Assessments, Comprehensive Assessments, and Negotiated Service Agreements.
• Assists with Assisted Living budget preparation/execution and KPI metrics and actively aligns staffing levels with occupancy and/or acuity levels.
• Fosters creativity among staff to deliver the highest quality and best services to residents in the most economical manner possible. Responsible for creating and maintaining an atmosphere of stability where the personal dignity of residents is supported.
• Provides oversight of the infection control program and incident management.
• Prepares for and facilitates quarterly Quality Assurance Committee meetings.
• Oversees staffing schedules and ensures staff licenses and certificates are current.
• Arbitrates concerns involving residents, families, or personnel.
• Oversees and facilitates the integration of life enrichment and social services to provide holistic care to residents.
• Participates in Manager on Call schedule.
• Supports and actively ensures the use of the electronic medical records system.
• Coordinates health care management involvement in Union contract negotiations and contract issues.
• Works with community management to hire, train, counsel, discipline, and terminate staff in accordance with company policies, while adhering to the union contract for applicable staff, to ensure consistency in the selection and retention of quality personnel.

Secondary Job Duties
• Occasionally work the floor and lead by example.
• Completes other duties as assigned by management.

What We’re Looking For:
• Education: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree (preferred)
• Experience: Two (2) years of Assisted Living Administrator experience and knowledge of applicable regulations. Experience with electronic medical records.
• Licenses/Certificates: Registered Nurse with current licensure and in good standing with the State of Washington. Active Administrator license/certification per WA state requirements. Meets the Assisted Living Administrator requirements as defined in WAC 388-78A.
• Knowledge: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Publisher or equivalent programs required. Excellent communication, supervisory, and management skills. Knowledge of nursing processes. Ability to work well under pressure, establish priorities and adapt to change. Working knowledge of Washington State Assisted Living regulations.
