POSITION SUMMARY
The Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible for providing management, oversight and planning of resident care which may include: Nurse delegation, medication administration, administration of health treatments, diabetic management, nonroutine ostomy care. Conduct initial resident assessments and implement care plans. Supervise and delegate responsibilities to staff currently working on the floor. Assess learning needs including readiness for residents and families, implement training plans and evaluate outcomes. Adhere to state regulations concerning delivery of resident care and ensure that nursing services are provided and documented. Administer supportive services to residents, families and staff in other areas of The Courtyard as needed. Organize and perform assigned work in a responsible manner, while exhibiting maturity and integrity in stressful situations. Consult with the Director of Nursing Services/DRLS regarding the overall nursing care program and resident care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES
Development responsibilities:
Develop Nursing Care Programming to meet resident needs.
Facilitate in-service educational programs.
Attend outside educational conferences and share information with nursing staff.
Serve on committees as appropriate.
Meet continuing education and professional growth requirements.
Collaborate on technology needs for Assisted Living (AL).
Support oversite of management of spending for related nursing services and resident care.
Resident Care responsibilities:
Responsible for Nurse delegation and monitoring of outcomes.
Verify data collected, interpreted and analyzed, and formulate nursing diagnoses.
Responsible for the initial resident assessments and implementation of care plans.
Provide ongoing resident assessments including assimilation of data gathered from licensed nurses and other members of the nursing care team.
Solve resident care delivery problems in collaboration with the nursing care team for continuous improvement.
Attend required in-services, facility and nursing department meetings.
Recommend policy and procedure development and revisions.
Work flexible hours and shifts to meet 24-hour accountability and responsibility with clinical staff.
Assist staffing nurses with admissions.
Fill in as needed for nursing coverage.
Supervision:
Supervise and delegate nursing functions to nurses on the floor.
Provide support to supervision of staff and performance management as needed.
Act as Administrator of AL Nursing program if the Director of Nursing or Executive Director are out of office for an extended period.
Coordinate and review resident care assignments with staff giving instruction and supervision as needed.
Assist the Resident Care Coordinator in managing staffing needs as required.
Review staffing plans each month.
Collaborate with Director of Nursing on nursing/DRLS staff coverage.
Evaluation/Assessment:
Conduct admission interviews and planning, and discharge planning.
Update, review and report changes in resident(s) condition, no less than twice annually, both in resident record and Care Plan in collaboration with the Care Team.
Coordination of Care:
Accurately assess resident psychosocial status.
Report changes in resident’s condition to appropriate personnel (DNS and/or Staff Nurse) and document.
Work collaboratively with the Care Team to modify resident Care Plans to reflect changes in resident conditions.
Provide resident and family with explanations or updates of residents’ condition as necessary.
Organize and participate in care conferences.
Work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers and family members.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the Nurse Delegation and supervision of nursing training needs and outcomes. Supervise nurses currently on shift.
Support Director of Nursing Services in the hiring, managing performance and discipline and recommending termination.

EDUCATION

Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE
Working with the elderly and their families, particularly in a health care setting.
One year working with dementia and memory care.
One year of supervisory experience.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Current Registered Nurse license to practice in state of Washington.
Current CPR card.
SOFTWARE / EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE
Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook and Vision.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
Subject to call-back during emergent or special situations.
Healthcare provider required to comply with the federal law (HIPAA) that addresses privacy and security of protected health information. HIPAA training is required due to the access to resident health information.
Demonstrated leadership abilities.
Able to communicate effectively in English to staff and residents in oral and written form.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE
Long Term Care experience.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Certification in Dementia Care or other health related certifications.
