Chief Executive Officer – Masonic Homes of California

Deffet Group, Inc. is pleased to have been retained by Masonic Homes of California to conduct an executive search for a Chief Executive Officer.

The Masonic Homes of California (Masonic Homes) is a charitable organization devoted to helping communities and families throughout California live well and achieve meaningful and rewarding lives. The organization has consistently expanded and evolved and today, its residential campuses are comprised of two licensed senior residential communities based in southern and northern California. The organization is home to approximately 380 residents (with roughly 150 additional residents residing at Acacia Creek), employs approximately 350 employees.

Masonic Homes is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the community in meeting the needs of the next generation. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the President and CEO (CEO) is responsible for leading Masonic Homes in fulfilling its mission through execution of Board-approved policies, supervision of existing facilities and resources, and planning for future needs.

The central function of the CEO is to carry out the purpose and goals of the Masonic Homes of California, as determined by the Board. In executing these responsibilities, the CEO focuses on strategy, innovation, and relationship-building, while demonstrating fiscally responsible oversight and expenditure of available resources.

The successful candidate for this position will have a bachelor’s degree, but a master’s is preferred. They must have at least 5+ years’ experience in a leadership capacity within senior living, population health, and/or not-for-profit management, preferably in a C-level responsibility. Previous for-profit background an added plus.

The successful candidate must bring intellectual, professional, and personal values that complement and further enhance the existing culture and management team. An inclusive leader, the finalist has an understanding of the value each constituent brings to the success of the system as well as the capacity to identify and develop strengths in identified areas of need within the team. A strong listener who demonstrates compassion when speaking with residents and families, the finalist will demonstrate a temperament and management approach that aligns with the organization’s core values and philosophy, while remaining attuned to the importance of fiscal responsibility.
