The Benefits and HRIS Specialist is an HR professional who works closely with the VP of HR to support Wesley benefit plans and its HRIS system. The Benefits and HRIS Specialist administers benefits including Workers Compensation for eligible employees, is the HR Department’s power user on the operation and maintenance of the human resources data system (HRIS system) and also assists with HR projects as needed. This is a 6 month temporary position that is benefits eligible.


1. Administers the benefits function area of Human Resources as directed.
2. Handles organization’s benefits and retirement plans (including employee status changes, benefits eligibility, open enrollment, benefits regulatory needs, reports and 403(b) plan administration).
3. Provides organization’s timely filing requirements (1095, 1055, SARS, etc.).
4. Stays abreast of regulatory changes. Keeps Wesley’s benefits in compliance with ACA mandates and with state or Federal level benefits changes.
5. Communicates with plan vendors to facilitate the efficient administration of benefits for employees.

1. Is the in-depth technical expert on HRIS system. Extracts data from systems for reporting and data analytics purposes.
2. Able to navigate through and effectively maintain HRIS system, providing oversight of information integrity.
3. Manages the data integration with insurance providers and HR tools including Applicant Tracking, Onboarding and Background Checking.
4. Monitors, troubleshoots and corrects HRIS database information.
5. Works with HR staff on system questions or issues.
6. Assumes liaison role with software vendor on system changes and/or facilitate updates.
Handles special projects in the development of Human Resources and performs other duties as assigned.
Education Background
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Technology, Human Resources or equivalent experience required.

Licensure, Registration, Certification
None required.

Special Training/Skills
HRIS and/or Payroll Systems
Cerdian Dayforce desired

Work Experience
1. Three years of substantial experience in the administration of HRIS and Benefits experience, 5-7 years preferred.
2. Strong IT and Computer skills.
3. Medical, Dental and 403(b) administration experience.
4. Knowledge of ACA and the regulatory requirements and changes.
5. Superior written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
6. Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
7. Professional, organized, detail-oriented and resident/customer service oriented.
8. Ability to appropriately handle confidential information and maintain confidences.
9. Ability to support the organization’s mission, vision and values.

1. Position requires repetitive motion such as working on computer terminal.
2. Minimal lifting involving filing, distributing mail and working with standard office equipment and supply.
3. Standard working environment involves the administrative office area.
4. Work in well lit, comfortable surroundings.
5. Be able to stand, sit, bend, and lift as necessitated by the job responsibilities.
6. Some local travel may be required.

SOME (COVID-19) RISK: Possible occupational exposure to residents or clients with COVID-19. May require personal protective equipment (PPE) to be worn during some aspects or seasons of job.
