POSITION SUMMARY:
The Bath Aide assists residents in achieving their best possible quality of life. The incumbent provides basic individual personal care and assists residents with their bathing needs.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
•Unencumbered Washington Nursing Assistant, Certified license.
•Obtain AED and HIV/AIDS training within 30 days of hire.
•Requires CPR, First Aid and Food Handler’s permit.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
•Ability to deal with multiple priorities and demands.
•Regular, predictable and dependable attendance.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality.
•Effective English communications skills both verbal and written
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Checks residents on bath schedule. Coordinates their condition and any changes in status with the residents’ NAC and licensed nurse.
2.Coordinates bath schedule with the residents to verify their bath appointment. Complies with residents’ requests to reschedule bath appointments, respecting their preferences.
3.Assists residents to bathing room, and provides resident the bath. Coordinates residents’ return to their room with the residents’ NAC.
4.Notifies residents’ NAC and licensed nurse of any resident skin issues observed during the bath.
5.Weighs and records residents’ weight prior to the bath being provided.
6.Assists NACs with resident care when not actively engaged in providing resident baths.
7.Provides resident care, including answering call lights during primary NACs’ meal and rest breaks.
8.Picks up resident meal trays and transports them to the Food and Beverage dish collection area.
9.Performs NAC duties as needed for direct resident care.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
•Extensive walking and standing.
•Move actively throughout the day.
•Able to assist in the evacuation of residents if necessary.
•Bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching over head.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
•Exposure to bloodborne pathogens: Level I.
•Work in well-lighted, temperature controlled, well-ventilated work areas.
•May be subject to infections, odors and/or hazards that might cause bruises or scratches.
•Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel and visitors.
•Subject to frequent interruptions.
