The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADNS) will assist the Director of Nursing Services in providing, planning, coordinating, and managing high quality nursing care, nursing services, health education and help with admissions. The ADNS is responsible for Staff On-boarding and development, Infection Control and Quality Assurance to ensure the health and safety of residents and staff and to meet regulatory compliance standards. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Responsibilities

Staff Development:

Coordinates and facilitates all educational programs for licensed and unlicensed staff. Ensures that mandatory in-service requirements are being met as required by the Health Center, State and Federal regulations.
Provides an annual calendar of educational activities for staff including educational needs identified by nursing leadership and all relevant quality improvement activities.
Coordinates and actively participates in unit-based orientation of licensed and non-licensed staff within the Department of Nursing. Solicits involvement of unit staff as preceptors and mentors.
Identifies essential competencies for licensed and non-licensed staff within the Department of Nursing. Assures appropriate educational opportunities exist to promote the growth and development of staff.
Plans, delivers and evaluates educational programs for licensed and non-licensed staff.
Provides Preceptor-Mentor education programs as needed.
Utilizes Relias online education modules where appropriate to enhance learning of clinical, administrative, leadership and other applicable topics.
Maintains program attendance records in accordance with regulatory bodies.
Coordinates the monthly Departmental orientation program
Coordinate Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR and First Aid education for direct care staff as required;
Participates in appropriate committees and collaborates with other staff/outside vendors. Promotes a high standard of care by licensed and non-licensed staff.
Provide training and support in the electronic documentation process for nursing staff in Health Center

Infection Control:

Oversees the Health Center Infection Control Program:
Provides education and training pertaining to Infection prevention and control management for nursing and ancillary staff annually and as needed
Assists in the development of policies and procedures to ensure infection control standards that meet CDC, DOH, OSHA, and DSHS guidelines.
Collaborate and help implement infection control practices with other Hearthstone departments as needed
Implement immunization, TB test protocol

Administrative:

Assists in ensuring nursing staff is providing quality and appropriate resident/patient care that meets or exceeds The Hearthstone’s standards and regulatory standards.
Assists in performing rounds, along with other Department Managers, to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care.
Assists in maintaining administrative authority, responsibility and accountability for the proper charting and documentation of care, medications and treatments.
Performs routine audits to ensure standards of practice and regulatory compliance benchmarks are being met.
Participates in QAPI meetings and process.
Assists with incident investigations, as needed.
Works with clinical software system trainers and Accounting Manager to insure training on clinical software is carried out and provides assistance to staff when needed
Maintains credentialing records for licensed and unlicensed staff in the Health Center to insure all records are current.

Personnel:

Participates interviews and selects prospective candidates for the Health Center licensed and unlicensed positions as needed.
Supports Directors with all personnel policies and procedures at the Hearthstone in a fair and equitable manner.
Assists Human Resources in managing annual TB screening program and notifies Directors of noncompliance.
Assists or delegates the administration of voluntary Hepatitis B vaccine.
Oversees and assists in the annual Flu vaccine program and administration.
Resident Care:

Makes rounds to ensure employees adhere to the Plan of Care.
Acts as a resource for nurses in assessment of resident’s medical condition.
Assist Resident Care Manager with admission and discharge process as needed
Participates in Care Conferences as needed
Participates in the Interdisciplinary Team process to make sure resident care needs are met.
Perform routine and random clinical audits to make sure standard of care and quality measures are met.
Provide leadership, mentorship and support to the nursing team

Safety:

Periodically monitors employees to ensure that they are following established infection control/blood borne pathogens standard procedures.
Oversees established procedures in the use and disposal of protective equipment.
Demonstrates knowledge and follows established safety management policies and procedures in the use of equipment and supplies.

Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Nursing, CHRO or CEO as deemed necessary.
