Reimagine Workforce Preparation Grant

Reimagine Workforce Preparation Grant

LeadingAge Washington submitted a letter of support to the Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board for the Reimagine Workforce Preparation grant.  This grant is through the CARES Act Stabilization Fund and is intended to help develop a three-tier apprenticeship pathway from Home Care Aide to Nursing Assistant to Licensed Practical Nurse.

The gap from front-line LTC positions to LPN is wide, time-consuming, and costly. From the perception of low-wage LTC workers, many of whom have not had positive educational experiences, the risk is not worth the reward.

Washington’s Nursing Commission has been working with industry partners and the higher education community to establish a more navigable pathway from Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to Registered Nurse (RN) and even Master and Doctoral level nurses.
