Stretch for Safety

Did you know that pre-shift stretching can reduce the risk of workplace injuries?  Stretching can help activate and prepare your muscles and improve overall comfort during a shift.

Warm muscles are less prone to injury. Encourage your employees to try some neck and shoulder rolls, neck side bends, arm cross stretches, torso twists and calf and hamstring stretches before each shift.

Remember these pointers:

  • Warm up first, muscles are like taffy, they stretch more easily when warm.
  • Stretch only to the point of mild tension, never to the point of pain.
  • Pay attention to your posture.
  • Be consistent

Incorporating a few minutes of stretching before a shift can significantly enhance physical readiness and overall well-being.
