LeadingAge WA has continued our partnership with Proactive Medical (that brought you our successful 2018 Phase 2 trainings) to prepare for the next webinar series focused on successfully managing the industry changes taking effect in 2019 including Phase 3 Requirements of Participation and the potential transition of Medicare PPS from RUGs IV to the Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM).  Our goal is to support Washington SNF’s with substantive education, tools, and resources to implement practical, step-wise action plans for success with the 2019 changes.

Course Description:

This 1.25 hour webinar will review strategies for successfully managing rehabilitation programs through the shift in reimbursement from a focus on therapy service time delivered to the patient driven payment model which emphasizes resident characteristics.  Content will explore meeting and justifying Medicare skilled service requirements, considerations for contract therapy terms and service delivery under PDPM, consumer expectations for rehabilitation, potential areas of future medical review, and interdisciplinary collaboration for quality outcomes. Guidance regarding preparing for payment model changes while maintaining an effectively functioning therapy program will be provided. An action planning tool will be shared with participants.

  1. Identify key operational action steps to ensure sound systems for justifying Medicare skilled stays with the onset of changing case mix component criteria.
  2. Understand key considerations for SNF therapy service delivery, contract therapy terms, and rehab program success under PDPM.
