Young nurse helping an elderly woman in a wheelchair. Nursing home concept

According to “The 2022 McKnight’s Mood of the Market survey: Leaders are at their breaking points. Nearly 60% of long-term care nurse leaders have seriously considered quitting their jobs in the last three months.” Can you afford to lose 60% of your nurse leaders? What keeps nurse leaders in their jobs? It is the meaningfulness of the work they do.

They like serving residents, running the building and supporting the mission of what they do. They do not want to quit but they are being pushed beyond their limits and what is sustainable long term. This may be leading to what McKnight’s call “The Great Management Walk-Out”. Training and learning opportunities are one of the big factors that supports job satisfaction among Nursing Leaders. Many Nurse Leaders are in their positions because they were promoted internally but not given any further training to help them be successful in these leadership positions. Who are these nurse leaders?

They are Directors of Nursing (DNS), Assistant Directors of Nursing (ADNS), Staff Developers or Clinical Educators, Resident Care Managers (RCM), MDS Coordinators, Infection Preventionists, etc.

If you have Nursing Leaders with less than 5 years of experience, this class is for them. If you have nurse leaders with more than 5 years of experience, this class will be an outstanding refresher for them.
